Mission Statement:   The Social Justice Ministry of Our Lady of Fatima works to bring awareness of the Church's social teachings to our parish and to communicate opportunities for actions to promote peace and justice for all people.

News & Events 

Social Justice Ministry's Annual Blanket Drive.  The Social Justice Ministry's blanket drive for the Schenectady Home Furnishings Program is going on now!  The following clean and gently used items are needed:  blankets, bed linens, quilts and bedspreads, bath towel sets, pots and pans, flatware and small kitchen appliances such as toaster ovens.  New pillows are always welcome.  Please place items in the specailly marked large box under the bulletin board in the lower level entryway of the Church. Good Homes for used Furnishings.  Schenectady's Home Furnishings program is in need of used furniture and housewares that are in good shape.  Coffe and end tables, kitchen table sets, dressers and bookcases are especially needed at this time as are bed sheets, blankets, towel sets, large sauce and frying pans, utensils and small appliances.  Contact the Home Furnishings Program at 346-2444 for pick-up.  A number of other organizations also collect used items for distribution including the City Mission (346-2275), Salvation Army (465-2416) and Habitat for Humanity (395-3412).  (1/14/2012)

Souper Bowl Sunday.    On February 5th, Social Justice and Youth Ministry members will be collecting donations for the Schenectady Inner City Ministry (SICM) and Sacred Heart/St. Columba food pantries as part of the annual Souper Bowl collection.   Hunger remains a serious problem in our region with demand for food assistance outpacing supply.  (1/15/2012)
